Biography
An internationally recognized journalist, Content Producer for Women's Health & Beauty at WebMD, and a top sellling author, Colette Bouchez has dedicated her career to health and medical writing, with great emphasis on subjects of concern to women. As the medical reporter for The New York Daily News for nearly 15 years, her weekly health reports and feature stories earned her numerous awards from some of the nation's most prestigious medical and journalistic organizations, including The American Cancer Society, The American Academy of Dermatology, The American Society of Colon and Cancer Surgeons,
and The National Coalition of Breast Cancer Organizations.
In 2002 Ms. Bouchez was honored by the Columbia University School of Journalism
for her health reporting following the events of September 11,2001.
In 1997 the prestigious Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern in conjunction with the American College of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, honored Ms. Bouchez for her outstanding contributions in the field of medical writing,
and in 1996 she received the coveted
50 th year Anniversary Award for Excellence in Science Writing from the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Later that same year Ms. Bouchez was selected as the writer for
a WNBC-TV /NY Daily News co-project on breast cancer,
which later went on to win an Emmy Award in local news documentary writing and production.

Ms. Bouchez began her journalism career with a twice-weekly health and beauty column
for Copley News Syndicate. Future endeavors took her to The Los Angeles Times Syndicate,
and the prestigious Words By Wire Syndicate in Washington D.C.,
where her stories appeared regularly in the Washington Post.
Early in her career she also served as health and beauty editor to Slimmer Magazine,
one of the nation's first health and fitness publications for women, and later as the health editor
for Playgirl Magazine, as well as contributing editor for both Savvy Magazine and Beauty Digest.
Her freelance magazine articles have appeared in Harper's Bazaar, Redbook, Cosmopolitan, Self, and others.
In the 1980's she joined the staff of The New York Daily News, as a senior medical writer,
where she remained for nearly 15 years.
While at The News, Ms. Bouchez accomplished what she believes are among her most important achievements:
Two of her exclusive reports became the basis for two separate pieces of women's health care legislation -
laws that could ultimately save the lives of hundreds of thousands of women nationwide.
§ In April 1997, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney introduced into the
105 th Federal Congress the Women=s Health and Dioxin Act of 1997 -
a bill that forced government funded testing on feminine hygiene products suspected of increasing the risk of cancer in women
§ In February 1997, New York State Senator John Tulley
Introduced into the legislature a bill mandating government funding for medical research that will help reduce
unnecessary D& C surgeries in women.
In both instances federal and state legislators publicly acknowledged Ms. Bouchez's efforts
on behalf of these bills, and credited her investigative reports for not only bringing these issues to public attention, but also helping to launch legislation that is destined to make a significant difference in women's lives.
Following the success of her international best selling book in infertility " Getting Pregnant", in
1998 Ms. Bouchez left the world of newspaper reporting to concentrate on her book-writing career.
As a member of the writing/editorial staff of Reader's Digest Books, in 1997 and 1998
she developed two outstanding texts: "The Healing Guide To Vitamins, Minerals and Herbs
(over 250,000 in print) Is It Healthy, Is It Harmful" ( a Canadian release with over 150,000 in print).
In May, 2000 she co-authored, the totally new
" Getting Pregnant 2000 - What You Need To Know Now ", for Fireside Books.
With over 150,000 books in print, excerpts and quotes are featured on over 250 different web sites, and over
50 different critics, including Library Journal, have favorably reviewed it.
This book is now considered a "Classic Bestseller".
In 2001, Ms. Bouchez published her first solo book effort
" The V Zone - A Woman's Guide To Intimate Health," also with Fireside.
This book garnered rave reviews from Library Journal, Barnes and Noble.com,
StorkNet, Shape Magazine, Self Magazine and Complete Woman.
Foreign rights have been sold to publishers in Spain, Poland, Brazil and Romania.
The Spanish version - "La Zona V" made its American debut on Amazon.com in December 2002.
The supporting web site, www.theVzone.net, has received accolades as one of the best women's health care sites
on the net today and continues to generate over 10,000 new hits per month,
establishing Ms. Bouchez as a trusted source of medical information among women world-wide.
In February 2004 Random House/Broadway Books published Ms. Bouchezs next book,
Your Perfectly Pampered Pregnancy, favorably reviewed by Publisher's Weekly and Library Journal.
It was featured in such magazines as Fit Pregnancy, Self, Parents, Child, and Atlanta Parent.

her book and her expertise have become a mainstay of reliable pregnancy information for women worldwide.

Ms. Bouchez also serves as a member of the legal defense research team of Gerald Shargel Law Associates where
she provides medical legal research for a wide array of internationally acclaimed murder trials.
